💗 Turning Pink Into Power: Breast Cancer Awareness in the Bahamas Blog Oct 1 Written By Creative Instincts, Inc Each October, the world pauses to shine a light on Breast Cancer Awareness — but the mission is year-round. Awareness isn’t just about pink ribbons and hashtags. It’s about saving lives through early detection, educating our communities, and ensuring no woman walks this journey alone. The Numbers That Matter — Bahamas Edition Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer among women in The Bahamas , with an estimated 300 to 500 new cases per year . What’s particularly striking: Nearly 48% of diagnosed Bahamian women are under the age of 50. The average age of diagnosis is about 42 years — far younger than in many developed countries. Around 44% of women are diagnosed at Stage III or Stage IV , meaning many cases are detected late. Roughly 23% of Bahamian women with breast cancer carry a BRCA1 gene mutation , making genetic risk especially significant. These statistics underscore a harsh reality: too many women are diagnosed too late, and too many carry risks that go unchecked. Why Awareness Is More Than a Campaign Early detection saves lives. When caught in its initial stages, breast cancer treatment is far more effective. Education changes behavior. Awareness encourages self-exams and timely check-ups. Genetic screening matters. High mutation rates in The Bahamas mean knowing your risk is critical. Community support strengthens resolve. The burden of cancer is heavy, but lighter when shared. Free Screenings from Island Luck Cares Foundation This Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our sister foundation Island Luck Cares is taking action with FREE mammograms for all Island Luck account holders . 📍 Locations: Fourth Terrace Diagnostics, New Providence Easy Dental Clinic, Freeport Grand Bahama Lucayan Medical Centre, Freeport Grand Bahama Bahamas Wellness, Palmetto Point Eleuthera ✅ What to bring: Your Island Luck card + a valid ID 🗓 When: Available now through October 31st This initiative is breaking barriers — ensuring cost, access, or hesitation don’t stand in the way of early detection. Every Story Matters As Adrianna Fox shared: “Awareness is the first step, but access is what truly changes outcomes. Cancer touches us all, whether directly or through a loved one. By educating, supporting, and screening, we can save lives and give families hope.” This October, we encourage Bahamian women to schedule their screenings, know their risks, and encourage loved ones to do the same. Because every story is unique, and every journey matters. 💕 #BreastCancerAwareness #ILCares #CheckItToCatchIt #ThinkPink For more information about the “Breast Cancer Awareness” initiative, please contact: The Fox Foundation Lia Castillo Marketing Consultant Fox Foundation +1 (305) 467-1420 Lia.castillo@aafgroup.biz About The Fox Foundation: The Fox Foundation is dedicated to empowering communities through philanthropy, with a special focus on addressing global crises such as human trafficking.
